Female hair loss ‘can damage self esteem’

Female hair loss sufferers may look to disguise their balding because they lose confidence in the way they look.
This is according to Vinu Kumar a stylist in Tripunithura, India, who spoke to news provider the Hindu about the issue.
“Thinning of hair can have considerable impact on a person’s self esteem,” he stated, adding balding is the most common reason why women ask to have extensions put into their crowning glory.
He noted that his customers are usually above the age of 35 and that lifestyle changes and stress are among the causes of balding among females.
While the expert asserted extensions do not do any harm to hair growth, individuals may need to pay heed to the advice of other specialists and ensure they wear the products loosely.
The accessories, as well as braids and weaves, have been blamed for causing traction alopecia, where strands are pulled out by overly tight styles.
